How to Install AnyPS5 on Windows and Linux

By AnyPS5 Progress Tracker · Data updated

Two ways to get AnyPS5: use the official prebuilt release (fastest), or build from source. Both follow the official usage and build docs.

Before you start

  • An x86-64 PC running Windows or Linux with a Vulkan 1.1 GPU (requirements).
  • A PS5 game you legally own, as a clean ELF executable plus its bundled modules. This site does not provide, link to or index any game files, firmware or keys.
  • Realistic expectations: only verified games are known to work.

Option A: use the official release

1. Download

From GitHub Releases get the files for your OS (v0.1.1): relinker-v0.1.1.exe + prx-windows-v0.1.1.zip on Windows, or relinker-v0.1.1 + prx-linux-v0.1.1.tar.gz on Linux. Details: download page.

2. Prepare the input folder

Put the game executable and its bundled modules in one folder. The modules go in sce_module/, sce_modules/ or prx/ beside the executable:

source/
    input.elf
    sce_module/
        <bundled ELF modules>

3. Convert with the relinker

AnyPS5 relinker command generator

Pick your setup and copy the exact AnyPS5 commands. Runs entirely in your browser.

Your OS (and output format)
Your CPU

1. Convert

.\relinker-v0.1.1.exe --windows source/input.elf app.exe

2. Run (after setting up libs/ and app0/ — see below)

.\app.exe

Exit codes: 0 = converted, 1 = invalid arguments, 2 = conversion failed (details on stderr). Based on the official AnyPS5 USAGE.md for v0.1.1.

Note: the output defaults to Linux ELF — naming it .exe alone does not select Windows; the generator adds --windows for you.

4. Lay out the runtime folder and run

app.exe (Windows) or app.elf (Linux)
libs/
    *.prx ← AnyPS5 system libraries for your OS
app0/
    <game resources>
    sce_module/
        <converted modules printed as "Guest module:">
  • libs/ is for AnyPS5's libraries only — never the original PS5 .prx files.
  • Games that use system fonts need font files in anyps5-fonts/ next to the executable.

Then run .\app.exe on Windows, or chmod +x app.elf && ./app.elf on Linux. Controllers work through SDL; keyboard/mouse is configured with anyps5-input.ini (input mapping docs).

Option B: build from source

Common requirements: x86-64, Git, CMake 3.22.1 or newer, Ninja, and a C++20 compiler.

Windows

  1. Install MinGW-w64 GCC 15.2.0 from WinLibs (x86_64-ucrt-posix-seh, release 15.2.0posix-14.0.0-ucrt-r7) — the only supported toolchain — and add its mingw64/bin to PATH.
  2. Install Git for Windows, CMake and Ninja.
  3. Set SSL_CERT_FILE to a CA bundle so the FFmpeg download works, e.g. C:\Program Files\Git\mingw64\etc\ssl\certs\ca-bundle.crt.
  4. Clone and build:
git clone https://github.com/boykopovar/AnyPS5.git
cd AnyPS5
git submodule update --init --recursive
cmake -S . -B build -G Ninja -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release -DCMAKE_C_COMPILER=gcc -DCMAKE_CXX_COMPILER=g++
cmake --build build --parallel
cmake --build build --target libs --parallel

Linux

  1. Install GCC, G++, binutils, Git, CMake, Ninja, and the X11/Xext headers (Debian/Ubuntu: libx11-dev libxext-dev).
  2. Clone and build:
git clone https://github.com/boykopovar/AnyPS5.git
cd AnyPS5
git submodule update --init --recursive
cmake -S . -B build -G Ninja -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release -DCMAKE_C_COMPILER=gcc -DCMAKE_CXX_COMPILER=g++
cmake --build build --parallel
cmake --build build --target libs --parallel

Where the output is

  • System libraries: build/core/libs/libs/*.prx → copy into libs/.
  • The libs target is excluded from the default build. Run the second command after every library change, or you will test old binaries.

Relinker only (any OS, including macOS)

cmake -S . -B build-relinker -G Ninja -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release -DANYPS5_RELINKER_ONLY=ON -DBUILD_TESTING=ON
cmake --build build-relinker --parallel
ctest --test-dir build-relinker --output-on-failure

The executable is build-relinker/core/relinker/relinker. This mode does not build the system libraries.

AnyPS5 install FAQ

How do I install AnyPS5?

There is no installer. Download the relinker and system libraries from the official GitHub release (or build them), convert a PS5 executable you own with the relinker, then run the converted program with the libraries in a libs/ folder next to it.

Which compiler do I need to build AnyPS5 on Windows?

Only MinGW-w64 GCC 15.2.0 from WinLibs (x86_64-ucrt-posix-seh, release 15.2.0posix-14.0.0-ucrt-r7) is currently supported for the full build.

Can I run AnyPS5 on a Mac?

You can build the relinker alone on macOS, including Apple Silicon, but converted games need an x86-64 Windows or Linux host. macOS game execution is not provided.

Does AnyPS5 work on Intel CPUs?

Yes, add --to-intel when converting. It rewrites supported AMD-only instructions; unsupported ones cause a conversion error.
